We have just come back from a lovely holiday in Tuscany. My big sis won a week in a farmhouse near Pisa and invited us all to go along.
The farmhouse was lovely. It had panoramic views, olive groves, orange trees and a big log fire. We had some lovey day trips, ice cream and nice wine. All in all, it was a good break. Charlie was great on the plane and it was lovely for my sis and her hubby to spend time with him. And us, for that matter.
I must say, however, that I don't feel very rested. We still have to wash and sterilise all the bottles, wash clothes, change nappies, wake up at 3am and then 5:30am and not go back to sleep. This is all made more difficult by not having the correct equipment to hand. Is it worth going away just to do the same old stuff? I think in these credit crunching times, our next holiday will be spent at home and going on day trips. At least until Charlie can sleep until 8am and use a cup! Hmmm, maybe when he's a teenager???

Yeah - know what you mean. A holiday is rarely 'a holiday' with children, at least not the sort you had when you were young, free and single. Ooh, don't get me started. Having said that we went to Italy last year when the girls were almost 2 and almost 4 and it was fantastic. They swam every day and just hung around outside. I think any earlier than that would have been much harder.
Sounds lovely. We haven't yet been on holiday with Rosemary (except up to in-laws, which is certainly a holiday for us, as they spend the whole time running around with Rosemary while we get to be creative in the kitchen). We were supposed to be going, with in-laws, on a big fancy all-inclusive holiday to Mexico in December, but they will be going without us, since we'll have a teeny tiny baby by then. Harrumph. But sounds like it might well have been a bit of a nightmare, so I should be pleased. Could really, really do with a holiday, though!
Have 9 year old and we travel a lot. The great thing is whenever we fly she treats it like a big roller coaster which makes the bumpy bit less tense. I do have to adopt a rictus grin and pretend to enjoy it....she also finds pilots rather dashing. Apart from the time one sat next to us on a flight to Norway, we began to wonder who was flying the plane...
Hey NMSOM
There is an award waiting for you over at my blog!
